Getting Started with Your Blog

What is the built-in blog?

Your Vacation Labs website includes a built-in blog that you can manage entirely from the backoffice under Website > Blog. Create posts with rich content, featured images, categories, and SEO fields — all without setting up or maintaining a separate blogging platform.

Your blog lives on your main domain (e.g., www.yourdomain.com/blog) rather than a subdomain, which is better for search engine rankings.

The blog is available on all billing plans.

What you get out of the box

New Vacation Labs accounts come with blog infrastructure already set up:

  • 4 sample blog posts and 3 categories to get you started
  • A Blog link in your website header menu (between About Us and Contact Us). If you don’t see it, add it to your menu.
  • A Blog Cards section on your homepage showcasing your latest posts
  • A /blog listing page with paginated post cards and a sidebar

You can start publishing right away — just edit or replace the sample posts.

What you can do

Create and manage blog posts

Write blog posts with a rich text editor, featured images with a focus picker, excerpts, author assignment, and multiple content sections (tour cards, collection cards, and more). Control when posts go live with Draft, Published, and Unlisted statuses.

Organize with categories and customize settings

Create categories for your blog, choose between hero and constrained post layouts, configure author and category listing pages, and customize your blog’s URL prefix.

Add a Blog Cards section to any page

Showcase your latest posts on your homepage, destination pages, or any static page with a Blog Cards carousel. Choose automatic filtering by category or hand-pick specific posts.

Set up author profiles

Add bios, designations, profile photos, and social media links for your blog authors. An author box appears on blog posts showing the author’s photo, name, bio, and social link icons — adding a personal touch and building credibility with readers.

Permissions

You need the Blog Manager permission to create, edit, and delete blog posts and categories. If you don’t see the Blog tabs under Website, ask your account administrator to enable this permission for your user role.

What’s next

We’re actively working on new blog features. Here’s what’s on the roadmap:

  • Blog search — Search functionality within your blog, similar to the main website search
  • Sidebar on blog posts — Category and author links on individual post pages (currently only on listing pages)

If any of these would be particularly useful for your business, let us know at support@vacationlabs.com — it helps us prioritize what to build next.
